Since 2016, Mulukakao’s coffee journey has unfolded in the vibrant highlands of Matagalpa, Nicaragua where smallholder farmers cultivate beans on generational family farms. As a pioneer of coffee culture in the region, Noel has dedicated his life to preserving the rich, unique flavors of Nicaraguan coffee while championing sustainable, eco-friendly practices rooted in tradition.

Transforming Green Beans into Artisan Coffee

After harvest, Mulukakao’s coffee beans undergo a precise process—drying, milling, and roasting—honed over generations. This blend of tradition and innovation preserves the bold, rich flavors that define Nicaraguan coffee, delivering an experience that embodies the heart of Nicaragua.

Noel’s vision to bring the final coffee product back to Matagalpa resulted in the creation of the first café in the region—Artesanos —where local farmers could finally experience the fruits of their labor. Today, that connection continues at Mulukakao, where each cup of coffee reflects the care, dedication, and expertise of the farmers and artisans behind it.
